Record skis by C.A. Lund, dating from the 1930s–1940s. This vintage downhill set is in very good condition, retaining its original labels and a beautiful glossy finish. The skis feature classic pointed “nipple” tips and a flat-top design. Their extended length indicates they were intended for a tall, strong skier and were especially well suited for ski jumping.
The Northland Ski Manufacturing Company began as the C.A. Lund Company, founded in 1911 by Norwegian immigrant Christian A. Lund in Hastings, Minnesota. The company produced skis, poles, boots, bindings, toboggans, and snowshoes at facilities in Hastings, St. Paul, and Laconia, New Hampshire. By the mid 1920’s and throughout the 1930’s, Northland had grown to become the nation’s largest manufacturer of winter sporting equipment.
