A very nice dark set of Northland Skis sold by an old sporting goods company out of Los Angeles. The label reads WM. H. Hoegee Co. 138 SO.Main St. Los Angeles. These skis have been preserved with a beeswax finish and are very sturdy. They feature metal strip edges, bear trap bindings and rounded tips common in this era.
Northland Ski Manufacturing Company was founded as the C. A. Lund
Company in Hastings, Minnesota by Norwegian-born Christian A. Lund back
in 1911. Skis, Poles, Boots, Bindings, Toboggans, and Snowshoes were
manufactured at Hastings, Minnesota, St. Paul and in Laconia, New
Hampshire. By the mid 1920’s and on into the 1930s, Northland was the
nation’s largest producer of Winter Sporting equipment.
