Classic Canadian Wooden Snowshoes
Wood, Rawhide, Leather, Metal
42"l x12"w x 2"h
This pair of vintage wooden snowshoes showcase the lighter wood and reddish brown leather bindings. They are ready for the Alpine Chalet! Handmade in Canada the same way for many, many years. White Ash is harvested, then steam bent into this traditional snowshoe shape. Rawhide is then woven or laced (while wet) to create the distinctive snowshoe design. As the rawhide dries, it becomes taught and can support the weight of a grown adult on the snow. The supple leather bindings make these snowshoes still usable today!
