Herbert Libiszewski was born in Bischofszell,
Switzerland in 1897 and worked as a fashion illustrator, advertising
consultant, illustrator, painter and graphic designer (under the
pseudonym of Libis) in St. Gallen.
First he was trained as an embroidery designer in St. Gallen, then he
spent a few semesters at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the
Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. In 1921 he moved to Paris, where he
attended free academies and worked for the magazines Vogue, Jardin des
Modes, Votre Beauté and Marie Claire. In 1941 he returned to Switzerland
and devoted himself to designing posters and painting. All in all a great vintage ski poster that would be a wonderful addition to your ski chalet decor. A vailable in a variety of finishes.
