Antique Photograph of the Timberline Lodge Skiway Tram on Mt. Hood c. January 5th 1951.
© Vintage Winter
Not many photos exist of this one-of-a-kind tram built on Mt. Hood in Oregon. It was designed to travel 3.1 miles uphill from government camp to the skiing resort at Timberline Lodge. Not your average tram, the buses original motor powered the rear wheels which 'drove' the bus up to the lodge. It ran from 1951 - 1953 holding 36 passengers taking approximately 10 minutes...check the video shot in 1953 below.
