A great pair of "Never Been Used" – 10th Mountain Division Trail Snowshoes. These are marked with matching serial numbers – 00036 by Snowcraft – one of four companies that were producing snowshoes for the military during WWII. They are also stamped with manufacture dates of c. 1953. This is a rare set of matching serial number military snowshoes. Many snowshoes were simply tossed into a pile for the supply sergeant to put away, resulting in hundreds if not thousands of unmatched pairs of snowshoes. These wooden snowshoes are in excellent condition and still have the “binding instructions” card attached. The leather bindings on these snowshoes are still supple. The metal buckles have oxidized, giving them a wonderful green hue patina (see detail photo).
