Vintage Strand Downhill Wooden Skis – USA

A very handsome pair of Early American skis. Manufactured by Strand, this is a “flat-top”, pointed tip pair of skis. Strand  was one of first commercial ski manufacturers in St. Paul, MN, and then relocated after a warehouse fire to New Richmond, WI.  These skis say MA Strand, New Richmond, WI on the decal label which is still in excellent condition.  One small blemish on these skis (hardly noticeable), there is a small bit of wood "chunked" off under the binding of one of the skis. See image on grey background. The bindings are Anderson and Thompson (Seattle, WA).

Manufacturing Note
Only the finest pieces of wood were chosen for crafting a ski of this style. Each board was examined to be straight or have a natural camber. Tips were steam bent after the ski had been finished with carvings, bindings and footpads.
