The C. A. Lund Company was founded in Hastings, Minnesota by Norwegian-born Christian A. Lund back in 1911.  Skis, Poles, Boots, Bindings, Toboggans, and Snowshoes were manufactured at Hastings, Minnesota, St. Paul and in Laconia, New Hampshire. By the mid 1920’s and on into the 1930s, Northland was the nation’s largest producer of Winter Sporting equipment.

Ten years ago the C.A. Lund Company commenced business at Hastings, Minnesota, manufactured skis, toboggans, hockey sticks, snowshoes and other articles of winter sports equipment.  The Lund line has been produced to meet the demand for higher quality equipment at prices within easy reach of hundreds of thousands of winter sports enthusiasts.  Carefully selected materials, highly skilled craftsmen and a through knowledge of the different sports were all combined.  Moreover, good service has been the rule at the Lund plant, a service which means prompt shipments and accurately filled orders.  

The high quality Lund products was very quickly recognized by the public and the remarkable increase in the demand for them year after year is sufficient proof of the fine satisfaction they have given.

The C. A. Lund Company will continue to supply the latest and improved skis and other article of winter sports equipment, always maintaining the high quality for which they have been widely known.

Lund Hickory Jumping Skis

The finest, heavy, white, second growth Upland Hickory.  Speedy, steady and designed for long distance jumps.  Rounded top edges. Reinforced heel.  The finish, a walnut brown color has a soft lustre, shows the beautiful grain of the wood, is waterproof and will wear indefinitely.  One-eighth inch red rubber foot-plate.  Three grooves on the bottom.  Jumping skis are not mortised.

Lund Racing Skis

A narrow, exceedingly strong, light weight, ridge top model designed especially for racing.  Thoroughly seasoned, white, second growth Upland Hickory.  Rounded top edges.  Reinforced heel.  Single groove on the bottom.  One-eighth inch red rubber footplate.  The walnut brown finish has a soft lustre, brings out the fine grain of the wood, is waterproof and will wear indefinitely.  Not mortised.

 Lund Hickory Slalom Skis

A medium width ski, unexcelled for slalom racing.  Speedy and steady.  Rounded top edges.  Ridge Top. Reinforced heel.  White, straight grained, second growth Upland Hickory, thoroughly seasoned-the finest material known for skis.  A soft, lustrous walnut brown, waterproof finish is deeply penetrated into the wood and will wear for years.  One-eighth inch red rubber footplate.  Not mortised.

A specially designed ski for downhill racing.  Made from the finest white, second growth, Upland Hickory, thoroughly seasoned.  Reinforced heel gives extra strength.  Rounded top edges. Ridge tip.  Single groove on the bottom.  One-eighth inch red rubber footplate.  The brown walnut finish is waterproof, rich in appearance and wears indefinitely as it is deeply penetrated into the wood.  Not mortised.

Lund Hickory Ridge Top Touring Skis

White, second growth, straight grained, Upland Hickory, thoroughly seasoned.  The walnut brown finish is outstanding in appearance, waterproof, and will wear for years.  One-eighth inch rubber footplate.  Single groove on the bottom.  Rounded top edges.  Ridge top.  Reinforced heel.  Designed especially for touring.  Not mortised.

Lund Ash Ridge Top Touring Skis

A high grade, lightweight touring ski particularly suitable for women and youths.  The best second growth, straight grained Northern White Ash, cut edge grained (quarter sawed) is used in this ski and will give excellent service.  The finish, a Lund feature, is walnut brown color, deeply penetrated into the wood, waterproof and will wear indefinitely.  Rounded top edges.  One-eighth inch red rubber footplate. Reinforced heel.  Not mortised.

A sturdy high grade, flat top touring ski.  Made from the finest white, second growth, thoroughly seasoned, Upland Hickory.  Rounded top edges.  Reinforced heel for greater strength.  Not mortised unless otherwise ordered.  One-sixteenth inch red rubber footplate.  The attractive walnut brown finish is waterproof and will retain its original beauty for years.

Lund Ash Flat Top Touring Skis

A sturdy, light weight general utility ski.  Made from choice, second growth Northern White Ash, cut edge grained (quarter sawed).  Rounded top edges.  Reinforced heel.  One-sixteenth inch red rubber footplate.  The attractive walnut brown finish, deeply penetrated into the wood, is waterproof, and will wear for years.  Not mortised in 6 ft.  and longer lengths.

Lund Hard Maple Flat Top Touring Skis

A very rind looking ski of beautiful, clear, hard (Rock) White Maple.  Will slide easier than any other ski and stand hard wear.  Finished in a rich walnut brown color which brings out the beautiful grain of the wood.  The finish is waterproof and will wear for years.  Rounded top edges.  Reinforced heel.  One-sixteenth inch red rubber footplate.  Not mortised in 6 ft. and longer lengths unless ordered otherwise.

Hard (Rock) maple, used in these skis, should not be confused with soft maple which is an inferior wood-not as strong nor as durable.

Lund Yellow Pine Skis

A lightweight touring ski for youths and small children.  Made from strictly selected Southern Yellow Pine, quarter sawed, and with the same fine workmanship that is put into our higher grade hardwood skis.  Extra thickness at heel to add strength.  Finished in a rich dark brown color with grooved white sriping.  Black rubber footplate.  Mortised.

Lund Micromatic Ski Binding

The ideal ski binding for touring, slalom, downhill and jumping.  Made of finest tempered steel, cadmium plated and polished.  Straps of extra heavy, pliable and waterproof leather.  Steel footplates with cork pads.

Irons are held securely to top of ski by screws that are not loosened to make any adjustments.  Transverse screws provide a four way adjustment of the tow irons that makes it possible to fit any boot perfectly after the binding is mounted.  Special connections between the straps and the toe irons give diagonal tension for jumping, slalom and downhill, as well as the regular tension for touring.  

Newest type of tightening clamp at heel.

Sportland Binding

For slalom, downhill jumping and touring.  Easily adjusted.  Extra heavy leather of the best quality is used in toe and side straps to give maximum strength.  An improved tightening lever and two buckles compose the heel unit.  All metal parts cadmium plated to prevent rust.  Jumping attachment see page 16.  

Overland Binding

For mortised skis.  The choicest, extra heavy leather is used in toe and side straps to give strength and long wear.  Interlocking teeth on the side irons permit the required adjustment.  Large, improved tightening lever at the heel.  A practical binding for touring and one that has been in the market for many years.

Page 15:

Gresshoppa Binding

An imported binding for unmortised skis.  May be purchased attached to skis, as by loosening the screws in the screwplate, the toe irons can be easily adjusted to fit the boot.  Best quality, extra heavy leather side straps hooked to toe irons and with large tightening lever the same as on Sportland binding, page 14.  All metal parts cadmium plated to prevent rust.  Men's or woman's size.  With or without sole clips on side irons.  No toe straps supplied with the sold clip model.

Bergendahl Racing Binding

Designed for racing.  Made from rustproof metal.  Sole-holders on the inside of the toe irons are adjustable to sole thickness and automatically clamp down when the toe strap is adjusted.  Small spikes hold the boot rigid without the use of a heel strap.
